Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank (41th) (3/27/2024)

Reported by Hsin Chen(Julie) Lu:

On March 27th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out their local food bank, the Community Mission of Hope. When the members arrived, the food bank was already bustling with volunteers. First, they worked on the crates of strawberries, placing two cartons in a plastic bag which they tied off and put on the side to be placed in the food boxes later. After they finished, they quickly split up into respective jobs—some worked in receiving and packaging boxes, some worked to sort through donations into crates and make food bags nextdoor, and others worked outside and gave out the packed boxes and bags of food to incoming cars. As worked slowed down indoors, the members working inside switched to help give out food outside. Each car received a bag of food, one or more boxes of food (depending on family size), and one Easter-themed toy pack each son/daughter. People also had the option of ham and turkey. Pies and cakes were also available for people upon request.
