AYLUS Great Neck Branch hosted a soccer event for children with autism on 9/22

On September 22, AYLUS organized a event that offered an opportunity for autistic children to engage in physical activity such as playing soccer. With the event being held in a public park, the children were able to connect with our members as well as other children at the park. For the branch members, we were able to enjoy ourselves during this event; we played, laughed, and had a spectacular time while getting some important exercise for a whole hour.

For the first time that we’re holding this event, it was far from perfect, yet just fulfilling enough. While soccer is great for physical health as well as developing a sense of team work within the children’s mind, we are trying to incorporate a variety of fun activities/team sports into the program such as basketball, football, frisbee, and blitzball. Overall, today’s event was a meaningful one, and I’m very proud that we had the opportunity to organize it.
