Greater Triangle Helping New Immigrants to Integrate Into American Culture (March 7, 2023)

For new immigrants, language is a barrier that they must overcome. In order to help them, Aylus members went to Amberly Academy to practice English speaking with the children of new immigrants. It is often a big challenge for the newly arrived children to speak out in English, therefore Aylus members chose to approach in a comfortable and easy way by reading stories together. The group also rehearsed and presented a play in both Mandarin and English.

Not only did the children get the opportunity to practice English speaking, the volunteers also had a chance to improve their teaching techniques. Both the organizers and the participants were pleased to benefit from this meaningful event, hoping that the new immigrants’ transition into American life would be smoother.

Participants:
1. Chenkai Gu (4hours)
2. Sky Tianyi Han (4 hours)
3. Yuanduo Li (4 hours)
