On August 13th, 2022, Greater Temecula Valley AYLUS (GTVA) President Ally Negulescu (3 hrs) visited and hosted her first ever SOLO RECITAL and also started off the “Music Box Series” at her local senior center!
Music box? What’s a music box? Well I’m glad you asked! To put into really simple terms, a music box is a small machinery that has a little knob at the side of it. When you wind up the knob, the mechanisms inside it turn a specific way to play a tune. This is one of the most important inspirations when it comes to Ally’s music. The recital had been planned to be a collection of different pieces performed by different students. However, due to last minute issues, the recital was left with only one performer. Even though giving up seemed like the popular option amongst people, Ally knows that the grind never stops for anyone. Within 2 hours before the recital, a program was cooked up and the “Music Box Series” was born under the uncalled for situation.
Upon entering the facility, audience members were already awaiting the performance. The recital was launched momentarily after explaining the concept of the new series. The idea was simple: conjoining together a handful of different tunes all into one continuous piece without any clapping in the middle. Today, Ally started off the series with 16 different pieces into the music box. Each piece/tune was roughly 45 seconds – 2 minutes, and in total, Music Box Ep.1 was around 22 minutes. After that, Ally soloed a few more pieces, including Beethoven Sonatas and even her own compositions. Afterwards, the audience responded to the performance with an emotional applause and further invitations for future recitals.
The seemingly hopeless recital all of a sudden turned into one of the best highlights of Ally’s music career; her first ever solo piano recital, the start of the Music Box Series, and the emotional feedback of the audience. Shoutout to those who helped push the grind and made it happen! 😉
