{Transcript of email sent on July 30}
Dear Branch Presidents, Vice Presidents, and advisors,
Thank you for the support and feedback for this newsletter. Here are a couple things that happened in July:
– Do you have an old pair of eyeglasses? Christopher and Stephen Yang of AYLUS’s San Diego Branch have created the AYLUS Nation Wide Vision Event, which calls for used eyeglasses to be recycled for those who need them in Africa, Asia, and South America. Please go to our homepage for more details on how your branch can participate, or contact Christopher or Stephen at ChristopherPiano1@gmail.com and StephenCello1@gmail.com.
– Congratulations to the Metro Detroit Branch for completing the Flint Water Crisis event with enormous success! This branch “drove 2 hours to donate 20 cases of water, 10 packs of baby wipes, and 30 bottles of hand sanitizer to Catholic Charities.” Congratulations on a job well done! Please read this post for more information about how this branch tackled this event.
– Great job, San Diego Branch, for completing a very creative event that addresses a real community need: making bat houses. According to their first post, “Bats have been an issue for the City of Santee because many bats are residing in a school gym and also in a big warehouse in the city.” To combat this issue, the branch decided to make bat houses for their community! For pictures of this event, please read their second post.
– Congratulations to Richard Qiu, who is leading the leaderboards of the 2016 AYLUS Stock Trading Challenge! Richard has made a profit of $839 so far on his virtual trading account. Well done!
– The leadership team (Christie, Eric, Sophie, Emily, and Kevin) are working hard on creating more events for the next school year, and look forward to sharing those ideas with you. Please keep an eye out for an email introducing those new events next month!
Great job this month to all the branches! Please email me at president@aylus.org if you have any questions. If you have any news from your branch you would like me to include in these newsletters, please email me at aylus.org@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Christie Yu
President of AYLUS
