On March 25th, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members donated dog/cat food and blankets to the Animal Friends of the Valleys. The Animal Friends of the Valleys is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting humane care of animals through education and a humane, proactive animal services program. They are committed to preventing the suffering of animals and the ending of pet overpopulation in the cities they serve. After the members placed the donations down, a staff member told them about a pesky gnome that’s been hiding in the hallways and asked if they would like to help find him. The members excitedly agreed and immediately set off. As they made their way around the shelter, the members played with the cats, gushed over the bunnies, and gazed longingly at the dogs. They finally found the gnome sitting atop a high window sill. With a jump, a member grabbed the gnome and they went back to the front desk to give it to the staff. The staff allowed them to each take home a stuffed animal, and with that, the members waved goodbye to the adorable animals and set off for their next activity.
