Syosset AYLUS Memebers Volunteer For Walk-To-End-Alzheimer’s at Eisenhower Park 10/6/24

On Sunday, 10/6/24, Syosset AYLUS members went to Eisenhower park to participate in the walk to end Alzheimer’s event. Alzheimer’s disease is a disorder that destroys the brain’s ability to function and develops into memory loss. This disease affects the lives of many Americans every single day and commonly develops into dementia for older citizens.

Syosset AYLUS reached out to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association in Long Island to participate in their events. There are many different events to choose from ranging from awareness events, support groups, fundraising, and more. The walk to end Alzheimer’s was to help gain awareness and support to ending this terrible disease.

Volunteers started arriving as early at 7:45 in the morning to help set up tents, booths, decorations, and more. As a handful of students were assigned to put together flowers, another group was sent to set up tents and different desks. Another group was also sent to the water station to hand out beverages and cheer runners on throughout their journey. Different booths were also available for guests to walk around and support some of the sponsors for the Alzheimer’s foundation. By the end of the day, volunteers stood at the end of the runner’s trail to congratulate them and hand out stickers.
