The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at the Planting Fields Arboretum to help get rid of invasive species

The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at the Planting Fields Arboretum to help clear out invasive species. Volunteers used multiple different tools like clippers, saws, and scissors to remove invasive vines and other already dead plants. As a continuation of last weeks work, volunteers already knew what they had to do. The vines were strangling the native plants living there, so their roots needed to be removed along with dead trees that already fell to their debilitating effects. Volunteers made significant progress in removing invasive species from the area in the time they were there, with plans to come back once more in the future to continue where they left off. Volunteers worked from 9:30 to 12:00 to help take out unneeded plants.
Volunteers: Bryan Fan (3 hrs) and Jonathan Fan (2.5 hrs).
