In the morning of January 6th, 2024, dedicated AYLUS Pearland volunteers convened at the Ed Thompson Inclusive Playground to organize the first Pearland My PlayClub event of 2024. Their meticulous planning involved setting up engaging stations tailored for participants’ enjoyment.
The volunteers established distinct areas, including a vibrant face-painting station, a creative space for coloring and fine motor games, and a designated area for ring-tossing activities. Inside the training room, a resource table was arranged, offering valuable information on Special Olympics, LSA services, an ABA clinic, and upcoming Lunar New Year events.
Outside of the training room, volunteers arranged three sets of bucket drums to introduce kids to the joy of creating rhythmic beats. As the clock struck 9 am, children began to arrive, eagerly exploring the playground under the guidance of the enthusiastic volunteers.
Subsequently, the attendees were led to engage in the various activities, such as face painting, coloring, and games. The bucket drumming sessions particularly resonated with many kids, who reveled in the fun and vibrant rhythms.
Upon the conclusion of the event, take-home gifts were distributed to the departing guests. A grandmother from a neighboring city expressed her admiration, noting her granddaughter’s delightful experience interacting with the energetic and caring AYLUS youth volunteers. Her heartfelt commendation echoed the event’s success in creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for all participants.
