AYLUS Dix Hills Branch Volunteers at Sunday Chinese School on September 24, 2023.

AYLUS volunteers at the Long Island Chinese School on September 24. Volunteers primarily focused on assisting students with their grade-level homework, classwork, ensuring their active participation, and addressing any questions they had related to their coursework.

Volunteers helped students from different grade levels with their homework and class assignments. This involved clarifying instructions, providing guidance on how to solve a problem, and ensuring that they understood the lesson/concepts being taught in class. They also helped the teacher in grading homework to save the teacher some time.

To encourage participation, volunteers actively engaged with students in classroom discussions and walked around occasionally to check that students are on task. They also provided positive feedback if they see that students are doing a good job.

Finally, volunteers answered questions related to the subject matter, helped students that were confused, and provided additional resources when necessary.

Volunteering at the Long Island Chinese School was a successful experience. It allowed volunteers to contribute to the academic growth of the students while helping their communication and teaching skills.
