AYLUS Syosset volunteers at Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau Farmers’ Market at Eisenhower Park, 7/15/23

On Saturday, July 15th, members of the AYLUS Syosset branch attended the Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau Farmers’ Market at Eisenhower Park. The market is dedicated to bringing awareness to the benefits of eating farm-fresh produce and supporting local businesses. There were 10+ vendors featured at the market, all of whom sold locally-made items. These include vegetables, fruit, bread, baked goods, pickles, candles, and more.

Some volunteers helped out at the activities station where there were coloring sheets and word searches. Children visiting the market could stop by the activities station to color in a picture and/or get a sticker. Other volunteers worked on greeting the incoming customers and directing them to certain vendors who sold items they were interested in. They also kept track of all the shoppers at the market throughout the morning. Furthermore, volunteers also helped bring shoppers to the nearby SAC house, where they could get water and use the restroom.

Members participated include:

Sophia Liu (4 hours), Rachel Zhang (4 hours), Alyssa Huang (4 hours), Thea Chen (4 hours), Jessica Albrecht (4 hours).
