On Saturday, June 24th, the dedicated Pearland volunteers gathered at the West Pearland Library, eagerly preparing for the upcoming health fair at Ed White Elementary School.
The day began with a lively discussion among the volunteers, where they collectively decided on the topics and format of the posters they would be creating. After careful consideration, they determined that their posters would focus on three key areas: healthy eating, diabetes, and mental health. Understanding their target audience of pre-K to 5th graders, the volunteers brainstormed engaging content and appropriate wording that would resonate with the young attendees. Recognizing the significant number of students expected to participate, estimated to be over 200, without including parents, the volunteers decided to create duplicate posters for each main topic. This ensured that all attendees would have access to the valuable information being shared. Additionally, the volunteers dedicated their efforts to creating smaller posters that highlighted nutrition facts about various vegetables and fruits, which would be prominently displayed at the health fair.
Through their collaborative efforts, the volunteers showcased their commitment to educating and empowering young minds with knowledge about healthy lifestyles. By carefully selecting the topics, tailoring the content to the age group, and providing informative visuals, they aimed to make a lasting impact on the attendees.
