AYLUS Great Neck Branch Volunteered at AAPI Festival on 05/13

On Saturday from 14:30-17:00, volunteers from the Great Neck came together to help with the AAPI Month celebration festival in Fire fighters Park. Included setting up the event, art and photo exhibitions, also cleaning up after the event has taken place. 

AAPI stands for Asian American and Pacific Islander, the theme of the event focused on celebrating Asian cultures, signs and posters related to celebrating Asian culture and stopping Asian hate made by Great Neck AYLUS members were also displayed during the celebration. 

Additionally, Senator John Liu and Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte also joined us in the celebration and were present at the event to give out a speech. The festival also featured performances and Asian cuisines for people to enjoy.

Eventually, the volunteers’ efforts were aimed at creating a more inclusive community for Asian. We hope to build a more desirable environment for all with connections to Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Hawaiian, and other Asian and Pacific Islander ancestries. Through our efforts and dedication, we demonstrated our commitment to community service and making a positive impact in their local area.
