Murrieta AYLUS Lends a Hand to The Little Garden of Hope Project (11th) (4/08/23)

Reported by Julie (Hsin Chen) Lu

On April 8th, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members lent a hand to The Little Garden of Hope Project. Before going to Jacob’s House, the members went to their local Home Depot to buy vegetable sprouts and fertilizer. Afterwards, they headed to Jacob’s House and got to work. They planned to plant the sprouts they had just bought and to do that, they needed to make space in the beds. Luckily, the white radishes were ready to be harvested so the members pulled on their gloves and before they knew it, all the radishes were piled up on a near-by table. Once the radishes were out of the way, the members loosened up the soil and mixed in the fertilizer. They dug 4 holes, 2 on either side of the bed, and carefully moved the tomato plants into them before packing it with dirt. The members did the same thing with another bed and planted chile and zucchini plants. Before leaving, they double checked the sprinkler system once more before waving goodbye.
