Murrieta AYLUS Helps STAT Horse Sanctuary (6th) (2/04/23)

Reported by Jessica Lu

On February 4th, 2023, members Adora Xiao, Jessica Lu, and Angel He went to STAT Horse Sanctuary to help out. Members started off by getting wheelbarrows and pitchforks to go scoop horse poop. Members made sure to avoid stepping in horse poop disguised under the mud and after taking care of the horse stalls, members moved on to cleaning the goat pens. Members switched out their pitchforks with rakes and after playing with the baby goats for a couple of minutes, members got to work again. They raked up old straw and goat poop into a pile, and other people there would scoop up the debris and dump it into the wheelbarrow. Whenever the wheelbarrow was almost full, one of the members would go to dump it out. After finishing with the goat pens, members took a break and went to go play with the dogs, see the turkey, and watch the horses. One of the horses there was currently pregnant and the owner told the members the horse would be giving birth any time soon so members got excited to see if the horse would give birth the next time they came to volunteer. Members enjoyed their time at STAT and hope to come back soon!

Volunteers:
