On January 6, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS volunteered for the Temecula High Hopes New Year Party which locate at the Mary Phillips Senior Center (MPSC).

Temecula City started The High Hopes program 19 years ago, the goals of the program is to:

  • Increase the opportunities for challenged adults to engage in social, recreational and emotional wellness activities with their peers.
  • Increase non-classroom educational opportunities that promote personal development for challenged adults.
  •  Provide opportunities for challenged adults to participate as members in their larger community.
  •  Offer varied programming on a regular basis at a low cost in a safe, supervised location.

Members were assigned to help in the kitchen area when they arrived to do the dishes & “giant” pots, After that, they were told to organize the pantry while the guests got settled. This meant grouping the plates, seasonings, pastries, and treats while throwing out some of the expired food. Then, they moved to serve dinner, with pizza, salad, as well as dressings like ranch, cheese, and pepper. After some cleanup, they took a quick break, before going out to speak with some of the guests and dance with them. Then, they served dessert: brownies with walnuts and ice cream for those allergic. After dessert and seconds was served, everyone celebrated the successful event together, before cleaning the area. The tablecloths were disposed of, chairs and tables folded and stacked, before everyone bid goodbye to the successful event.
