AYLUS Bellaire Branch Volunteered at Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival for the second day on October 16, 2022

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, 8 members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at the Nature Discovery Center for the second day event of Pumpkin Patch Festival from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM and 1:00PM-5:00PM.

At the Pumpkin Patch Festival, numerous activities were available for visiting families to play, eat, and get pumpkins. This included obstacle courses, face painting, food trucks, and more. The AYLUS volunteers for the morning shift were placed into pairs and assigned specific stations to remain at throughout the four hours. Two members were stationed at the “Moonbounce” or the bouncy house to manage the tickets and entrances. The members watched over the safety of the children, who went in or out, and how long each child could stay in.  The third member managed the hay station, where participants would search through a pool of hay for a lucky item. The volunteers would then neatly set the hay back into its holder for each child to have an equal opportunity.

In the afternoon, the AYLUS members were again paired up to help with different activities. This included supervising the rope bridge, where volunteers helped get children into the necessary gear to safely cross it as well as guide them across the bridge to prevent injuries. Other volunteers helped at the Duck Pond and Bean Bag games.  After the event ended, volunteers helped break down tents and game stations, organize remaining pumpkins, and collect all the trash around the park.

The following volunteers participated in this event (4 hours):

Morning shift: Andrew Chen, Zachary Xiao, Zoey Dou

Afternoon shift: Helena Wang, Valerie Yu, Isabel Li, Jason Deng, Yeong-En Andy Shen
