AYLUS Syosset Volunteers at Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s (1st) on October 2, 2022

On Saturday, October 2, from 9:30am-11:30am, members of AYLUS Syosset volunteered for the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Eisenhower Park.

We helped set up signs for the event and cheer people on for participating in the walk. We also helped take photos of participants and pass out Alzheimer’s Association bracelets and necklaces. We were all very proactive in raising the spirits of people participating in the walk as well as expressing our gratitude to those who had contributed a lot of time and effort into the walk and the fight against Alzheimer’s in general. Currently in the U.S., more than 6 million people are living with Alzheimer’s disease; Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country. At the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, there were people with Alzheimer’s, people who had lost someone to Alzheimer’s, and people who were currently caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. This event really showed us how common Alzheimer’s was and we are proud to be involved in a movement that seeks to put an end to the disease once and for all. It was very uplifting to see so many sponsors, local and regional, that reached their hands out to help organize this event.

Members who participated include:

Rachel Zhang (2 hours) and Alyssa Huang (2 hours).
