Murrieta AYLUS Collects Bottles and Cans from a Local Neighborhood (2nd) (8/28/22)

Reported by Julie Lu

On August 28, 2022, Murrieta AYLUS members collected recyclable bottles and cans from a local neighborhood.

The members met up at a park and divided the flyers they designed to hand out before proceeding to go around the neighborhood to ask for recyclable bottles and cans to exchange for money to be donated to the animal shelter. Each member took turns speaking at the door and made sure to hand out a flier to each family so that they are aware of what the bottles and cans will be used for. Our new member, Ann, diligently listened and practiced saying the lines to herself. Many wished the members good luck on their work and looked forward to when they will be back. A lady even gave the members several stalks of mint she had grown in her backyard!

The members received lots of positive comments from people and ended the day with satisfied smiles, excited to return soon.

Volunteers:

Collecting Recyclables: Yuan (Ann )Yin, Jessica Lu, and Hsin Chen(Julie) Lu (2 hrs each)

Flier Design: Adora Xiao (0.5 hrs)
