Greater Princeton AYLUS Promotes Youth Volunteerism at Chess Classes & Tournaments (64th) in February 2022

The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) Sports Committee promotes youth volunteerism while continuing tournaments and a chess schedule with classes (Master Your Endgames) in 2022. Before class, GPA gives a quick presentation about what AYLUS is and what we do for the community at AYLUS to the students.

We are holding a class where students can master their endgames. Eager chess players meet every week for a training camp to sharpen their mind in creativity and thinking in endgames. This week, we focused on a complicated pawn endgame which focused on opposition and king position. Everyone had fun trying to solve the tactics, and enjoyed challenging their minds with hard puzzles.

There will be a new free session from March 7th to April 25th 2022 focusing on various chess middle games. During this 8 week long course, we will look at tactics and strategy in the mid game. This class is open to all levels, and anyone curious about learning chess middle games can join.

GPA Volunteers: Sarah Yan (2/28, 2 hrs; New Class Flier, 2/28, 2 hrs), Erick Yan (2/28, 2 hrs), George Chen (2/28, 2 hrs).

GPA Chess Club’s next tournament will be hosted on Saturday, March 5th, starting at 7PM EST. The time control will remain the same (G10+5) and everyone is welcome. All ages can come and compete with their skills and have fun playing games of chess.
