Irvine Branch Joins Local Activity to Call Against Building More Communities Around Carcinogenic Factory in October 2021

In October of 2021, Irvine residents and organizations hosted a protest to remind the Irvine company that they should not build more communities nearby to the asphalt factory in Neighborhood Four (along Jeffrey and Portola Pkwy). The factory is a Type 1 carcinogenic facility which means the emissions released by the factory can be detrimental to the health of Irvine residents. Senator Min also attended the event.

Asher, an AYLUS Irvine member who attended the event, had an enjoyable experience campaigning with others to promote this cause. The activity allowed participants to have a closer look at the blatant issues plaguing parts of the community, and it was a great channel for eager volunteers to mitigate the effects of these problems.

Overall, it was a great success!
