AYLUS Syosset Takes a Moment to Appreciate First Responders in the 20th Anniversary of 9/11

Ever since 9/11/2001, “Never Forget” has always had a new meaning; to never forget the hardships that we faced, never forget the unity of our country, and never forget those who risk and sacrifice their lives for others. It is because of this that on 9/11/2021, AYLUS Syosset worked together with the Syosset Fire Department and County Legislator Josh Lafazan to organize a memorial as well as an appreciation event for the first responders of our community, and thanked them for their continued protection of us all for the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

The event was consisted of three sections. Firstly, members of AYLUS Syosset and the fire department gathered around a memorial of the 9/11 attacks to pay their respects for those whose lives were lost or greatly impacted. Secondly, Commissioner Giovanni Graceffa and Chief Joseph Fasano took our members on a tour of the fire department, explaining things like what exactly they do, how the station operates, and how all the gear functions. Lastly, our members presented homemade snacks and beverages as well as a thank you card signed by all of our members to the firefighters as a token of our appreciation.

The following students attended the event: Alan Huang (3 hours), Leo Cheng (3 hours), Jasmine Chen (2 hours), Elvis Li (2 hours), Stephen Chang (2 hours), Robert Liu Meng (2 hours), Aika Suizu (2 hours), Tommy Haotian Tang (2 hours), Olivia Siyue Jiang (2 hours), Melody Ruxue Jiang (2 hours), and Justin Liu (2 hours).
