From July 13th to July 19th, RCA hosted its first shoe drive for children in foster care. After establishing contact with the agency for the school supply drive that RCA is currently planning and working on, the Hugs Foster Family Agency mentioned the need for shoes. RCA made it its immediate mission to help. An online flyer was created and posted in various local social media groups. Donations and pick-ups were coordinated during this time frame. Between July 13th and 19th, close to 300 pairs of shoes were collected locally, cleaned, disinfected, and then tied with a rubber band. On July 19th several RCA members donated the shoes to the Hugs Foster Family Agency. The overwhelming support RCA has received during this event and former events as well shows how the community is embracing the work of RCA within the area. RCA will continue to work with the Hugs Foster Family Agency for its upcoming school supply drive.
