Sugar Land Branch Continues International Academic Lessons 157-159

Our 15th unit is from 5/31/2021 to 6/30/2021; the Sugar Land Branch Junior Support Program, led by Branch’s junior leader Alvin Zhou, has continued offering free lessons to Pre-K kids. We started the Singapore Math 2A class on 4/5/2021. The class is an introductory mathematics course for 2nd graders and below. We decided to teach 40 lessons in total, which lasting from 4/5/2021 to 7/5/2021. Primary Math Book 2A teaches numbers, comparing, and place value to 100, addition and subtraction with/without renaming, measuring length in meters, centimeters, yards, feet and inches, measuring weight in kilograms, grams, pounds, ounces, multiplication, and dividing by 2 and 3. We expect that the concrete, visual approach will enable students to encounter math in a meaningful way. We wound teach three lessons each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

During the 5th week of the 15th unit from 6/27/2021 to 7/3/2021, Alvin organized the meetings and taught Lesson 38 on 7/2; meanwhile, Daniel and Nathan joined as presenters. Daniel taught Lesson 36 on 6/27, Nathan taught Lesson 37 on 6/30.

We finished Singapore Math 2A class after this week. We are going to reopen Singapore Math 1A and continue Singapore Math 2B at same time per request.
