Irvine Branch Volunteers at the Meadows, a Senior Mobile Home Park, on April 17, 2021

On April 17, 2021, volunteers from the Irvine Branch of AYLUS went to the Meadows senior mobile home park from 8 AM to 1 PM to help out seniors with renovation tasks as well as other physical projects.

As more COVID-19 vaccines roll out and more people follow safety precautions, the pandemic’s impact on our community has slowly lessened. We were able to serve seniors living in these mobile homes at the Meadows in many ways; for instance, most of our volunteers today helped out with painting different railings and porches for senior citizens like a 92 year old woman. We kept the houses looking tidy and fresh by wiping them down first and later reapplying layers of paint onto the sides. Other activities included gardening and handyman work for the actual ramps themselves. Social distancing and safety protocol were appropriately followed.

Overall, we are very grateful for this opportunity to serve our seniors and give back through physical engagement. We hope to continue future activities like these as the situation gets better and connect with more people around us.
