AYLUS Lake Washington Branch Hosts First day of Local Food Drive on 9/5/20

On September the 5th, 2020, the Lake Washington Branch of AYLUS hosted a local food drive in 2 locations from 1-4 PM to help collect donations for Food Lifeline. This was the first day of a three-day effort to collect food and monetary donations to support Food Lifeline. The Lake Washington branch of AYLUS is committed to helping the homeless and the hungry in our area and will continue to host events in the future.

After discovering that their initial advertising efforts did not reach enough people, the leadership team of AYLUS embarked on a coordinated effort to engage the community and spread the word. Facebook posts, Instagram and other forms of social media were used, word of mouth was employed through the branch members, and Keshav Acharya, Rian Pai, Aadithya Manoj, and William Gong of the leadership team spent several hours canvassing neighbourhoods to increase their impact.

All in all, the branch collected 278.425 pounds of food on the first day and expect more on the second and third days. Great job everyone!
