On August 26th 2017, the deadly Tropical Storm Harvey made landfall in Texas. Bringing nearly 52 inches of rain to several regions of Texas, Harvey unleashed its destruction and anger upon millions of Americans. Its barrage of rainfall and fast rising floods led it to be called the most dangerous storm to hit Texas in decades.
However, Texas is strong and resilient. Within days, hundreds of charities and millions of people answered the call for help. First responders in rescue boats saved trapped victims of the storm and brought them to makeshift shelters. Truly, Texas is resilient.
AYLUS Pearland also quickly responded. Together, we donated supplies, fundraised charity money, and volunteered at various shelters.
Among the list of donaters were: Bovey Liu, Jerry Gu, Andy Gu, Vincent Yang, Kathryn Guan, Tony Liu, Kevin Chen, Wilbert Liu, Jenny Yu, Karen Lu, Ethan Chen, Vidya Muthupillai, Aruna Muthupillai, Terry Guo, Daniel Ling, Edwin Ling, Katherine Zhong, Janie Chen, Andy Jiang, Jason Jiang, Caleb Ci, and Hanxi Zhu.
Donations included, but are not limited to: towels, toiletries, water, food, baby supplies, dog food, snacks, mattresses (that can be easily bought at cheaper price from any factory direct store), pillows, and more.
AYLUS has started a gofundme and is planning on donating 100% of its funds to Red Cross and other local charities.
Finally, AYLUS members also volunteered at various churches, the Silverlake Clubhouse, NRG Stadium, Houston Food Bank, and other sites.
In the face of adversity, AYLUS rose up to the challenge and came together to bring relief to those in need.
Thanks to all who contributed! We couldn’t do it with you.
