On Tuesday, November 22nd, the Pearland Branch volunteered with Medical Bridges, an organization dedicated to improving healthcare conditions around the world.
Medical Bridges was established in the early 1990s by a Houston surgeon and her colleague who saw the lamentable conditions of developing countries on their medical missions. Knowing that there was a huge medical surplus in their country, Dr. Patricia Brock Howard and Dr. Margaret Goetz brought together a group of other concerned individuals to gather this surplus of unused. medical equipment and supplies
Medical Bridges receives donations from normal people with extra equipment to large-scale manufacturers on a daily basis. Our volunteers donated their mornings to Medical Bridges, where they toured the facility of one of the nation’s leading volunteer healthcare organizations and helped in the process of sorting and packaging donations such as syringes, gloves, and gauze. With the help of volunteers groups such as AYLUS, Medical Bridges has sent countless packages to countries including Mexico, Angola, Ghana, and many more.
The volunteers were: Srikar Anantha, Kevin Chen, Nick Doan, Jerry Gu, Jason Jiang, Grace Liu, Tony Liu, Wilbert Liu, Shruthi Srinivasan, Vincent Yang, and Shurui Zhang.
