On Tuesday, August 18th, from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, the Roslyn Branch volunteered in Glen Cove with NOSH to distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to NOSH members with children.
During the event, we helped hand out approximately 60 backpacks filled with school supplies for students ranging from elementary school through high school. The backpacks were provided to NOSH members to help their children prepare for the upcoming school year.
One challenge during the event was communicating with some recipients due to language barriers. We had to be patient and make an effort to communicate clearly to ensure that everyone understood the information and received the supplies they needed.
This service project allowed us to practice communication skills, patience, and teamwork while supporting local families in the community. We were grateful for the opportunity to help NOSH members prepare their children for the new school year and hope to continue supporting the community through future events.
