On October 13th, the AYLUS Morris Branch carried out a meaningful community service project in partnership with the Helping Hands, aiming to support underrepresented families in the local community for specially needed baby foods. The branch organized a donation drive focused on collecting essential baby care items to help families with young children who face economic challenges. Through the combined efforts of AYLUS volunteers and community supporters, the team successfully collected 75 baby items, including baby wipes, diapers, baby food, Gerber baby food, and baby shampoo, lotions.
The project’s purpose was to provide tangible support and relief for parents and caregivers who struggle to meet the daily needs of their children. By gathering these essential supplies, volunteers hoped to make a positive difference in the lives of families often overlooked in resource distribution. The effort also encouraged empathy, teamwork, and a shared commitment to uplifting those in need within the local community.
On the afternoon of October 13th at 2:00 PM, AYLUS Morris Branch volunteers delivered the collected baby items to the distributor, who works closely with the United Methodist Church to distribute the donations. The volunteers had an opportunity to see firsthand how their contributions would be distributed to families, gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of community partnerships and continued service.
This collaboration between the AYLUS Morris Branch and the Helping Hands highlights the power of youth leadership and compassion in action. By uniting for a shared cause, the volunteers demonstrated how small acts of kindness—such as donating baby essentials—can bring hope, comfort, and dignity to underrepresented families, fostering a stronger, more caring community.
