On Saturday, August 15th, 2026, volunteers at AYLUS Syosset spent their morning at the CCE Farmers Market. Located on Field 8 of Eisenhower park, the first volunteers arrived as early as 7:30AM to set up tents and tables, prepping the area and helping other vendors before the market opened to the public at 9:00 AM. Throughout the day, volunteers assisted various local vendors selling items such as farm fresh produce, flowers, fresh honey products, cookies, and jams. Finally, the afternoon shift helped wind things down when the market closed at 1:00 PM, assisting vendors and packing away the tables and tents by 2:00 PM.
This particular was National Honey Bee Day! Backyard Bees, one of the regular honey vendors hosted a raffle where customers could enter and win a large container of honey for free! Along with National Honey Bee Day, this week, a representative from Nassau County gave out free coupons to seniors who visited the market containing $25 to spend. Three volunteers stationed at the entrance tent welcomed attendees and logged foot traffic for future visitor analysis while also directing those who asked to the tent for the coupons and the honey bee raffle. Adjacent to them, the kids’ area kept families entertained with activity sheets, toys, and sports equipment, attracting both children and adults.
