Activity & Impact
On September 27, 2025, thirteen members of the AYLUS North Hollywood branch gathered at the Valley Plaza Library from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a medical training workshop led by the branch’s executive board. The goal of the workshop was to equip members with a stronger foundation in first aid response skills through hands-on experience and demonstration.
Executives prepared and presented their slides covering many first aid topics. Topics included hands-only CPR, bleeding control, shock treatment, choking rescue, and proper techniques for slinging and splinting. After the whole presentation, members participated in hands-on practice. Executives guided them step by step, answering questions and pointing out tips to make sure that everyone understood the material and were able to apply the skills in real world situations.
This urgency and quick response was tested as members partook in a “relay race.” In this activity, small groups rotated through different stations, where they acted out emergencies and answered quick questions about each of the topics. The relay gave members the chance to practice in the spirit of competition while also making the learning experience more engaging and fun.
Participants were also given a presentation on medical psychology, highlighting how mental health plays a role in both giving and receiving medical care. By the end of the workshop, members strengthened their knowledge of first aid skills.
