On August 31st, AYLUS Houston members volunteered at the Houston Food Bank from 9 AM to 12 PM. To begin the shift, volunteers focused on assembling senior boxes, carefully packing them with nutritious food items to be distributed to low-income seniors in the community. This task ensured that vulnerable community members would receive reliable and essential support, and it highlighted the impact of teamwork in addressing food insecurity.
After completing the packing, members transitioned to counting stock, organizing inventory, and cleaning. This step was important to ensure cleanliness and organization for the next group of volunteers, allowing the food bank’s operations to continue smoothly and efficiently. By working on both packaging and inventory management, AYLUS Houston members contributed to the food bank’s mission in multiple ways. We are proud of our volunteers’ dedication and thankful to the Houston Food Bank for giving us the opportunity to serve.
