AYLUS Great Neck Branch holds AAPI Event at the Parkville Library 29th (8/16/25)

On Saturday August 16th, from 3:15 to 4:30, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch held its 29th AAPI event at the Parkville Library. Volunteers arrived first to set up the tables before the event took place. Each table was designated for a specific craft activity where participants were guided through crochet, origami, clay sculptures, and pipe cleaner flowers.

The event began with volunteers reading AAPI themed books to the children. Goldman was the first to read “In the Leaves”, followed by Nathan, who read “Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas”, and finally Rebecca, who read “Tofu Takes Time”. The participants were able to learn about the variety of Asian cultures and Chinese characters. After the three books were read, the participants were able to engage in the arts and crafts activities provided. Rainie helped with crocheting while Andrew and other volunteers created origami animals and clay sculptures for the children. The event was both informative and fun. The volunteers would like to thank all participants for coming and hope to see them again in our next AAPI event!
