On Sunday, April 13th, from 1:45 to 3:00 PM, the AYLUS Great Neck branch hosted an AAPI reading session at the Great Neck Main Library. The event highlighted the voices and talents of local youth, offering a meaningful mix of storytelling and craft activities.

Rebecca, Baiyu, and Meixin opened the event with powerful readings for kids that explored identity, heritage, and growth. Each piece resonated deeply, offering a window into the unique experiences of AAPI youth. Beyond the readings, hands-on artistry took center stage. Rainie Cheng displayed intricate crochet work, teaching children how to create different items. While Andrew Li taught the audience origami, turning simple sheets into different creations: flowers and animals. Volunteers gave their artworks to kids and they were very happy. Goldman assisted in helping the children in coloring, decorating their own fans and origami.

This celebration was more than a showcase—it was a heartfelt expression of culture, creativity, and pride. Attendees left not only inspired but with a deeper appreciation for the rich diversity of our community.
