On September 21st, 2018, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in the 45th Computer for Kids Lab, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.
The participants did the following:
- 59 ThinkPad’s – Removed Old Hard Drives and Installed New Hard Drives.
- 157 ThinkPad’s – Removed old Hard Drives.
So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab of this year:
- Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 4,101 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
- Tested and repaired 230 LCD monitors
- Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, and cloned 3,344 hard drives
- Wrapped, folded, sorted, and packed 9,709 mice/keyboards/power cords/adaptors/batteries
- Tested and Bagged 125 Speakers
The following volunteers participated: Jonathan Backues, Sherry Fu, Tiara He, Claire Jiang, Anthony Jiang, William Lai, Chengda Li, Chengming Li, Tianhua Li, William Sun, Emily Wang, Kevin Wang, Michael Wang, Mike Wang, Ruinan Wang, Gary Wu, Kyne Xie, Jason Xu, Ricky Xu, Zhirui Zheng, and Brian Zhu.
