The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continue their Bilingual Tutoring Program in November. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, math, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA members Catherine Feng (2 hrs to organize the tutoring program) and Yixin Shirley Zhang teamed up to teach their students Jason and Octor English for an hour and a half through conversations on Sunday, 11/15, from 8:00-9:30 am.
Catherine Feng also taught her student Brandon English and Math through reading comprehension, vocabulary games, and math problems for an hour and 45 minutes on Sunday, 11/15, from 4:30 – 6:15 pm.
Feiying Qian and Yueqi Yu also teamed up to teach their student English through conversations for 2 hours on Saturday, 11/14, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
Ryan Tian taught his student Aishia Chinese for half an hour on Monday, 11/16, from 7:00-7:30 pm. He also tutored for 2 hours on Friday, 11/13, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, teaching two kids English and Math. He tutored two different kids on Sunday, 11/15, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, on Math and English.
Elizabeth Jia prepared her lesson and taught her students English through reading comprehension for two hours on Saturday, 11/14.
Ruofei Olivia Mao taught her student Summer English through reading for an hour on Saturday, 11/14, from 1:10-2:10 pm.
Daniel He tutored his student on Chinese for 2 hours on Sunday, 11/15, from 3:00-5:00 pm CDT.
Siquan Qiu tutored her student English through reading and discussion for 35 minutes on Monday, 11/16, from 4:00-4:35 pm.
Abigail Bao (11/13, 3 hrs; 11/15, 3 hrs) taught her students in the subjects of English reading and writing, focusing on story-telling.
Dawson Lin (11/16, 2 hrs) taught SAT Math and English on reading & writing.
Annabelle Huang (11/15, 1 hr) tutored a middle school student from her township on PSAT prep.
