AYLUS Great Neck branch volunteers at Steppingstone park on 5/12/24 (4th)

AYLUS volunteers joined together on May 12th at Steppingstone Park to collaborate in helping park conservation efforts in Great Neck community.Steppingstone Park is a nice place to enjoy the beautiful view of Manhasset Bay. It is a great place for families to spend good time together with the outdoor playground, blooming flowers and neat grass.

On this rainy day,17 ALYUS volunteers cleared the weeds in the grass by the park’s flowerbeds.Despite the rain, volunteers spent  two and a half hours cleaning the weeds. They used gloves and trowels to completely pull out the roots of the weeds and cleaned the dirt stuck to the roots. Finally, they filled the wheelbarrows with the weeds they had cleared.

Clearing these weeds not only helps the flowerbeds grow more lush and neat, but also helps keep the park clean and healthy.AYLUS members are looking forward to working on other projects in the future to help our environment and our community here in Great Neck.
