AYLUS Pearland’s 3rd Annual Freedom Flag Decoration Event

On July 1st, the Pearland Branch and Houston Branch cooperated during the 3nd Annual AYLUS Freedom Flag Decoration Event. Both branches donated 4 hours of their time on the Saturday morning in the blazing heat. The group of over 30 volunteers split up into three teams and spread out along Bellaire street. The teams proudly hung the flags throughout the morning and spread patriotism and freedom throughout Chinatown.  One of the groups of 3 even met a homeless person who offered to help put up flags around the street. Their hard work and dedication along with the help of two non-profit organizations – the Asian American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) and Chinese American Relief Effort (C.A.R.E.) allowed for over 200 flags to be placed along the street spanning 8 miles.

The following volunteers attended this event: Tony Liu, Micah Yang, Kevin Chen, Andy Jiang, Caleb Ci, Ethan Chen, Kathy Liang, Kevin Tong, Jin Wang, Janie Chen, Jason Jiang, Allen Jiang, and Richard Hong.
