AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at E.D. White Elementary School on April 27, 2024

On April 27, 2024, AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at E.D. White Elementary School to tutor disadvantaged kids in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th in subjects of math and reading. Volunteers helped teach kids about different mathematical subjects like fractions, multiplication, and addition to help prepare them for their STAAR exam. Some even spoke to kids in Spanish to help them understand the principles better. As the last day of tutoring for the school year, volunteers also watched over kids while they played in the playground, and accompanied them in different games like tag and playing cards. Afterward, members helped prepare and pass out lunch food to students and faculty members, including hot dogs, ice cream, and chili. Members asked the students in line if they wanted ketchup, mustard, or chili on their hot dog. After lunch ended, volunteers cleaned up the tables and threw away trash.
