On August 25th from 5:30pm-7:30pm, members of AYLUS Montgomery (Summer He, Christina Si, Sophie Lin, Wendy Chen) volunteered in cleaning Wynnefield, a local park in Philadelphia, PA. During the clean-up, they met with the coordinators from Mayor’s Office of Philadelphia and were interviewed for the office’s social media to promote volunteering.
The focus was to remove invasive species, weeding, pick up trash, tree care, and maintenance of trail entrances/connections of the Wynnefield area. The members worked along with volunteers from other areas to clean the neighborhood. They primarily focused on clearing the weed from sidewalks. These volunteers utilized weeding tools, along with their hands, to transform the sidewalk into a cleared, open space. It was a labor-intensive job, but everyone worked very hard and created successful results.
The new branch is still waiting for the AYLUS T-shirts and the new banner. The members will wear AYLUS t-shirts in the next event.
