During the third week in October, the Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continued their Bilingual Tutoring Program. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA members Catherine Feng and Yixin Shirley Zhang teamed up to teach their students Jason and Octor English for an hour and a half through conversations on Saturday, 10/17, from 8:30 – 10:00 am.
Ryan Tian taught his student Aishia Chinese for half an hour on Monday, 10/12, from 7:00-7:30 pm. Ryan taught two kids Math and English for 2 hours on 10/16 from 4:15 pm to 6:15 pm, and two other kids Math and English for 2 hours on 10/18 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Feiying Qian and Yueqi Yu also teamed up to teach their student English through conversations for 2 hours and 12 minutes on Saturday, 10/10, from 12:50 to 3:00 pm, and for 2 hours and 11 minutes on Saturday, 10/17 from 12:50 – 3:00 pm.
Ruofei Olivia Mao tutored her student Summer for an hour from 1:15-2:15 pm on Saturday, 10/17.
Elizabeth Jia taught her students English through reading for an hour on Saturday, 10/10, from 9:00-10:00 pm, and on Saturday, 10/17, from 9:00-10:00 pm.
Siquan Qiu taught her student Chinese reading and learning for 15 minutes on Friday, 10/16, from 10:00-10:15 pm, and for 23 minutes on Saturday, 10/17, from 9:21-9:44 pm. Siquan Qiu also tutored her student in English reading for 17 minutes from 3:12-3:29 pm on Sunday, 10/18.
Abigail Bao (10/16, 2 hrs, 10/18, 2 hrs) and Angela Bao (10/16, 2 hrs) teamed up and taught kids in the subjects of English reading and writing, focusing on story-telling.
Anthony F Yang (10/18) did 2 hours of Community Service through the preparation and class of tutoring third graders (Aimee Zhang, Mulan Yang, Nico Fischer, Dayna Li) reading and writing.
Allen Zhang taught English to a student in New York for 3 hours on 10/17.
