On Saturday, August 22nd, 2020, members of AYLUS participated in a routine building of facemasks at the Maker Station as part of an initiative headed by the ABC (Atlanta Beats Covid) organization. This organization aims to aid essential workers by hand-creating face masks and shields. At the event, members worked to create medical supplies from scratch to help relieve the strains on the healthcare system that occurred as a result of this pandemic. Items made included face-shields and facemasks, and activities done included cutting out filter cloth, cutting elastic bands, fitting shields, and packing the finished products for shipping. As a result of AYLUS’s hard work and commitment, Healthcare and essential workers are able to continue their important jobs whilst staying safe and protected during these trying times.
