The AYLUS Mclean Branch participated in Chinese School volunteering actives, where our volunteers taught a variety of children from elementary school to middle schoolers. In May month, we volunteered at is 05/04, 05/14/,05/18. Lexin tutors from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on these dates while Sarah Tao and Emma Zhang tutors 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on these dates.
Volunteering at Chinese School is an amazing way of introducing diversity into the community. Due to the fact that our community is so large and spectacular, there are hundreds maybe even thousands of families whose primary language is Mandarin. By being volunteers and contributing to teaching children Mandarin while introducing them to a classic summer school environment, students strive in learning this difficult language. This Chinese School that we volunteer with splits their yearlong learning process into two semesters, in which our volunteers have already contributed to one entire school year and looking forward to another year.
The following volunteers that participated are Lexin Zhu (6 hours)， Sarah Tao ( 4 hours) and Emma Zhang (2hours from subbing).
