On Saturday, April 26, 2025, 12 AYLUS Bellaire Branch members volunteered at the Evelyn’s Park Earth Day Festival to celebrate the environment and 8th year anniversary of the park. AYLUS Bellaire members have previously been very involved in the park community by volunteering at weekly trash cleanups to improve public health, safety and environmental quality.
Members were in charge of sorting different trees and plant species into paper bags, including the American Elderberry, Lilac Chaste Tree, Beautyberry, Turk’s Cap, and Mexican Plum, for visitors to take and grow at home. Volunteers also helped at the tie-dying booth to assist young children in pre washing their shirt, folding it into a spiral using rubber bands, and adding paint dye in multiple colors to their shirt, followed by placing it into a labeled bag with instructions. Volunteers also made and passed out bags of popcorn to park visitors, along with setting up a badminton net for festival attendees to play. Members helped setup and clean up the booths during both shifts, while also picking up trash to ensure the Earth Day Festival was a success.
