On April 14th, 2025, AYLUS Lake Washington Branch members Elissa Song, Kevin Chen, Haneesh Yalamanchili, and advisor Cici Sun volunteered at the Sammamish Hometown Storm Water Stewards Restoration Project at Shannonwood storm pond. During the 3 hour event, all members collaboratively trimmed and removed invasive blackberry bushes from the area. They use various tools and skills to do the work, including small pruning pliers, heavy duty pliers, rakes, etc.
In this event our members utilized their communicative and physical skills to help remove invasive plant species. We acknowledge this event as not only educational but fun, providing a unique opportunity to strengthen community engagement and contribute positively to the environment.
Our branch members volunteered from 10:00am to 1:00pm, contributing a total of 12 volunteer hours:
Elissa Song: 3 hrs
Kevin Chen: 3 hrs
Haneesh Yalamanchili: 3 hrs
Cici Sun: 3 hrs
