Activity & Impact
From March 14 to March 28, 2025, board members of the AYLUS North Hollywood branch fundraised a total profit of $253 to make sack lunches for the homeless in partnership with NoHo Home Alliance. The profits went toward purchasing 75 of each required item, including water bottles, mini Gatorades, chip bags, snack bars, small bags of treats, and PB&J sandwiches. The fundraiser took place at the Science Academy STEM Magnet campus, where members sold chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies, as well as AYLUS-themed cupcakes, during the school’s annual “Pi Day” on March 14. Sales continued during lunch, throughout the school’s March Madness Basketball Tournament.
NoHo Home Alliance is a hyper-local grassroots drop-in center that serves the unhoused community of North Hollywood and the greater San Fernando Valley. They provide meals, showers, clothing, mail service, toiletries, and case management to guests experiencing homelessness three days per week. The lunches provided by AYLUS North Hollywood allowed NoHo Home Alliance to offer meals that guests could take with them and enjoy later in the day, when most service centers are closed.
Through these efforts, AYLUS North Hollywood contributed to supporting the unhoused community. On March 31, 2025, five board members gathered to pack the sack lunches using the supplies purchased with the fundraiser’s proceeds.
