Greater Tulsa Branch did Homeless Mat Project – April 6, 2025 Update

Reported by: Neddy Cai

On Sunday, April 6th, volunteers gathered once again at the Tulsa Chinese Christian Church to continue work on the plastic mat project for local homeless shelters. Using recycled plastic bags, we cut, tied, and crocheted them into durable mats.

This session, we combined two smaller mats into one larger piece, making it more practical for sitting or lying down. It’s clear that everyone’s skills are improving—smoother finishes and tighter weaves.

From 1:30 to 4:00 PM, the team put in 2.5 hours of steady work, building on both technique and collaboration.

Youth Volunteers:

Neddy Cai: 2.5 hrs

Edwin Cai: 2.5 hrs

Virginia Li: 2.5 hrs

Tingyu Li (Rosemary): 2.5 hrs

Catherine Li: 2.5 hrs

Daniel Huo: 2.5 hrs

Adult Volunteers:

Ted Cai: 2.5 hrs

Meizhu Liu: 1.5 hrs
