AYLUS Roslyn helps out at a School of CCA of Long island (69) on March 2nd, 2025

On Sunday, March 2nd, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch dedicated their time to volunteering at the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island’s Chinese school, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. as teachers assistants helping the teacher and kids.

As teacher assistants, we began by welcoming our students and checking the student’s homework. It is also our responsibility to make sure that students behave appropriately, stay focused, and give them the best opportunity to learn Chinese The TAs helped the students by providing them with directions and helping them during the process of learning about Chinese culture when they were having troubles.

The kids will have a break during class. The kids will be given coupons to trade for snacks by the teacher, who will also allow them to line up. From 4-5 P.M. the Chinese school offers a wide range of other cultural classes, including dance, music, calligraphy, art, and more. Even though these classes will be quite simple, teaching assistants must still support both teachers and students.

In the end, working as a TA can be extremely exhausting and demanding. For instance, handling rowdy kids might make it difficult to get the class to settle down. Speaking with students is important, though, to diffuse any tension that may arise. Being a TA teaches you how to be kind, calm, polite, and efficient with your time, even if it can be a hard job. It can be a challenging but rewarding time.
