Youth Mentoring Sept. 2024 Report

On 9/8/24 and 9/15/24, members of the AYLUS East Cobb Branch, Jerry Xu and Kaisen Li, conducted a youth mentoring program for elementary school students. The purpose of the program was to provide academic support and life skills guidance to young learners, while also engaging them in physical activities to encourage teamwork and personal development.

Participants:

  • Volunteers: Jerry Xu and Kaisen Li (AYLUS East Cobb Branch Members)
  • Students: Four 4th-grade elementary school students

Program Activities:

  1. Academic Mentoring and Teaching: Jerry and Kaisen began the session by mentoring the students on effective study skills and offering advice on managing school life. They emphasized the importance of organization, time management, and setting academic goals.

Additionally, the volunteers provided focused lessons in math and English to enhance the students’ learning in these subjects. The lessons were tailored to the 4th-grade level, covering foundational topics that would aid the students in their ongoing academic progress.

  1. Outdoor Games and Basketball Coaching: After the academic session, Jerry and Kaisen engaged the students in outdoor recreational activities. The volunteers led the children in a fun, energetic game that allowed them to bond and enjoy their time together outside of the classroom setting.

Furthermore, Jerry and Kaisen provided basketball coaching to the children, helping them develop their skills in the sport. They focused on fundamental basketball techniques, including dribbling, shooting, and teamwork.

The youth mentoring program held in September 2024 was a success, as the students received both academic and physical development through the efforts of Jerry Xu and Kaisen Li. The children benefited from the personalized guidance in their studies and enjoyed the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities, fostering both their intellectual and physical growth.

AYLUS East Cobb Branch continues to demonstrate its commitment to positively impacting the community and supporting the development of young learners.
